Helpmann Award winner, Lorina Gore was born in Australia and completed postgraduate voice studies at the Australian National University in Canberra and at the National Opera Studio in London.  

She has won numerous prestigious opera awards, including the Dame Joan Sutherland Scholarship (AOAC 2012), the Opera Awards (Music & Opera Singers Trust 2010), Robert & Betty Saltzer Prize (Opera Foundation Australia 2004), Covent Garden National Opera Studio Scholarship (Opera Foundation 2003), 2nd prize in the Herald-Sun Aria (2002 and 2004), the Lady Galleghan Scholarship for Voice, the Frank and Viola Tait Scholarship, the Phoebe Patrick Award, and first place in the Australian National Aria Competition.

In 2008, Lorina joined Opera Australia as a principal artist and has since then performed the following roles: Queen of Night (Die Zauberflöte), Die Fiakermilli(Arabella), Amina (La sonnambula), Lisa (La sonnambula), Leila (Les pêcheurs de perles), Tytania (A Midsummer Night’s Dream), Honey B (Bliss; in Sydney, Melbourne and at the Edinburgh Festival), Marzelline (Fidelio), Oscar (Un ballo in maschera), Yum-Yum (The Mikado), Niece (Peter Grimes), Despina (Così fan tutte), Musetta (La bohème), Nanetta (Falstaff) and Woglinde (Der Ring des Nibelungen).
In 2010 Lorina also performed as Pip in Moby-Dick for the State Opera of South Australia, for which she received a Helpmann Award nomination.

Her international performances have included the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor for Iford Arts, Fiakermilli (Arabella) for Garsington Opera, Giulia (La Scala di Seta) for Independent Opera, Blonde (Die Entführung aus dem Serail), Agilea (Teseo) and Sandrina (L'infedeltà delusa) for English Touring Opera, and an extensive national tour of New Zealand singing Norina (Don Pasquale) for New Zealand Opera in 2006. 

Lorina has appeared as soprano soloist with the Sydney Philharmonia, Royal Melbourne Philharmonic, Collegium Musicum Choir, Melbourne Bach Choir and the Sydney, Darwin, Canberra, Queensland and Tasmanian Symphony Orchestras. She gave a series of concerts throughout China in 2009, and has also recorded highlights from Strauss’ Der Rosenkavalier with Yvonne Kenny for ABC Classics.

In 2014, as well as her role debut of Violetta in La Traviata for New Zealand Opera in Auckland and Wellington, concert work includes a special performance of Handel's Rodelinda in Melbourne conducted by Maestro Richard Bonynge, and performances with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra and Marko Letonja in Hobart and Launceston.

Lorina’s recent performance highlights include: A recital for Youth Music Foundation Australia; the role of Leila in excerpts from The Pearlfishers with Darwin Symphony Orchestra, the soprano solo in the Messiah for Tokyo Art Foundation and appearances as Violetta and Musetta for Opera Australia.

In 2016, Lorina appears with the Tasmanian Symphony in their Gilbert & Sullivan Spectacular and later this year, in their presentation of Haydn’s The Creation. She appeared with the Melbourne Bach Choir in their St Matthew’s Passion, performed Salammbô's Aria from Citizen Kane under Maestro John Wilson with the Sydney Symphony, appeared as Musetta in La Boheme for Moet Hennessy at Hanoi Opera Theatre Vietnam; features in further concerts across China, and continues her association with Opera Australia, performing Musetta (La Boheme) and Woglinde in Das Rheingold and Götterdämmerung, as well as featuring in the company’s Opera in the Domain (Sydney) and Opera in the Bowl (Melbourne) concerts.

In 2017, appearances include: Violetta in La Traviata and her Helpmann Award winning performance as Roxana in Krol Roger for Opera Australia in 2017, a regional tour with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra entitled an Ode to Nellie Melba and she performs in the St Johns Passion with Melbourne Bach Choir at Melbourne Recital Centre.
