Simon studied at the Victorian College of the Arts graduating with a BA (Music) and a Grad Dip (Opera) where he was the recipient of the Mabel Kent Singing Scholarship. He was a winner of the Armstead vocal scholarship for the Music Lovers Society of Victoria as well as a finalist in the Liederfest.

Simon has extensive performance experience and roles include: Count Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro (VCA Opera studio and Eastern Metropolitan Opera), Sprecherin Die Zauberflote (Athenaeum Opera series), Guglielmo in Cosi fan Tutte(Melbourne Opera). 
He has performed both Junius (VCA Opera series) and Tarquinius (Lyric Opera Melbourne) in Britten’s Rape of Lucretia and Demetrius in A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Co-Opera, SA).

Marcello in La Boheme (Co-Opera), the Gaoler in Tosca (Opera Australia), and Marco in Gianni Schicchi (VCA Opera Studio) Il Messaggero in La Traviata (Opera Australia). Einaugige in Strauss’ Die Frau ohne Schatten (Melbourne International Festival), Musiklehrer in Ariadne auf Naxos (Victorian Opera), Figaro in  Il Barbiere di Siviglia (Melbourne Opera), Cascada in Lehar’s The Merry Widow (Melbourne Opera), Marullo in Rigoletto (Melbourne Opera), Silvio in Leoncavallo’s I Pagliacci(Preston Symphony),Tchelio in Prokofiev’s L’amour des trios Oranges (VCA Opera studio), Dancairo and Morales in Carmen (Eastern Metropolitan Opera), Jimmy in Stuart Greenbaum’s The Parrot Factory (Victorian Opera), and David in Samuel Barber’s A Hand of Bridge (Athenaeum Opera series) . He performed the lead role of Rupert Brooke in Nicholas Vines’ Green Room award winning opera The Hive(Chamber Made Opera) for which he received a Green Room award nomination. 

Concert engagements have included Dvorak’s Te Deum (Stonnington Symphony)and dramatic Cantata The Spectres Bride (Willoughby Symphony), Schubert’s Mass in G, Bach’s Wachet Auf cantata (Victoria Chorale), Mozart’s Requiem (Sydney Philharmonia), Orff’s Carmina Burana (Melbourne Philharmonia), Handel’s Messiah (Victoria Chorale), Haydn’s Nelson Mass (National Boys Choir), Vaughan Williams Five Mystical Songs (Melbourne Uni Chorale), A Sea Symphony(Willoughby Symphony), Serenade to Music (Victoria Chorale), Mahler’s Kindertotenlieder and Beethoven’s Choral Fantasia (Monash Symphony). He has performed recitals at Midsumma Festival, Melbourne Fringe Festival, Lieder Society of Victoria and Castlemaine Arts Festival. Another highlight was performing the Baritone solo in Faure’s Requiem in collaboration between Opera Victoria and the Australian Ballet.

In 2013, Simon performed the role of Marquis D’Obigny in La Traviata for Melbourne Opera and Belcore in Donizetti’s L’Elisir D’Amore with Opera up Close.
He also made his German debut singing the Baritone solo in Swiss composer Frank Martin’s In Terra Pax at Berlin’s Heilig Kreuz Kirche.
During 2012, he performed the title role in Verdi’s Macbeth (Kennet Opera), Villequier in Chabrier’s Le Malgre Roi Lui (Wexford Festival Opera, Ireland), Escamillo in Carmen (Opera Up Close, London and Melbourne Opera) and Sonorain Puccini’s La Fanciulla del West (Opera Up Close). He also performed in new works in the NOVA workshop for Victorian Opera. 
Simon’s Concert Engagements in 2012 were as soloist in the Schubert Mass in G(Wexford, Ireland) and the Brahms Eine Deutsches Requiem (Romsey Abbey, UK)

In 2014, Simon performed the Imperial Commissioner in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly for Opera Australia Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour. He also performed Tonio in I Pagliacci for Sydney Independent Opera and Marcello for several performances of La Boheme with CitiOpera (Victoria).

In 2015, Continuing his association with Opera Australia, Simon created the role of Rabbit 4 in a new work by Kate Miller-Heidke, The Rabbits which debuted in the Perth and Melbourne Festivals. He returned to their main stage to once again perform the Imperial Commissioner in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly. Simon then toured China with the Australian International Opera Company as Figaro in Le nozze di Figaro.

In 2016, Simon continued to appear with Opera Australia, performing with Sydney Festival in their Helpmann Award winning production of The Rabbits; appeared as Count Almaviva in Michael Gow directed Marriage of Figaro in their regional tour and performs the roles of Writer, Juror and Reporter in Sydney Opera House – The Opera. He continues his association with the National company in 2017, appearing as Morales in their Handa Carmen on the Harbour and tours as the Count in Marriage of Figaro.
